Our Fourth of July weekend started off great with Joe's promotion ceremony on Friday! Sunday we were supposed to go into Cold Spring for their big celebration along with fireworks but unfortunately it rained from morning until night. So everything got pushed until Monday with the exception of fireworks. We loaded Gavin, Ava, Brayden and the dogs up and headed across the river to the town that Joe grew up in. They all did so well during the parade even with the loud firetrucks coming through.

Ronnie and Diane McConville invited us over to cool off in their pool afterwards so we headed that way. It was the first time Gavin, Ava and Brayden have been in a big pool. Ava and Brayden loved it and kept kicking their little legs trying to splash the water. Gavin on the other hand was not a huge fan and was much more content once Joe took him out and "allowed" him to chew on a bottle!

I stole a quote from a Facebook friend of mine and think it is everything that this holiday should be about:
"As we approach Independence Day, remember...The American flag does not fly because the wind moves past it. The American flag flies from the last breath of each military member who has died protecting it. American soldiers don't fight because they hate what's in front of them...they fight because they love what's behind them"
