Sippy Cup Review

I'm sure every parent out there has faced the challenge of finding a sippy cup that doesn't leak!  I told Joe that I should get paid to do product reviews on sippy cups to reimburse us for the amount of money we've spent on different ones!  So hopefully this post will save y'all time and money when it comes time for your little one(s) to transition from bottle to cup!

We didn't have too many issues on regular sippy cups with a spout.  The first ones we used were with handles and they leaked a little when chucked on the floor, so depending on what kind of arm your little one has will depend on how much leaking will occur!  They're by Playtex and can be bought at pretty much any store such as Target, Walmart, Babies R Us:
The next stage was spout cups without handles and we found that the insulated Playtex worked well, again we faced some leaking when thrown on the floor!  The nice thing about these was that when your tot is ready to use straws you can go online and order just the straws with lids instead of buying completely new cups.
After our three conquered these cups we decided to move onto cups with straws (around 15 months).  This was the biggest product challenge yet!  For some reason most of the cup straws don't have a specific valve to stop liquid from coming back up the straw when not in use so it makes for a huge mess and pooled milk/water/etc everywhere!  This would especially happen by the end of the meal when the drink had been sitting out.  I read on another site that it has something to do with the insulation and the cup changing it's "shape" to keep the liquid cool which causes the liquid to come back up the straw.  We tried so many different types and finally settled on one for milk and one for water.  We continued to use the insulated Playtex (like above) with straws for water because it didn't seem to make as much of a mess but for milk we settled on Tommee Tippee.

Ones that we tried that DID NOT WORK were:

By Munchkin (I couldn't even suck the milk up through the straw, let alone toddlers trying to!)

By Tommee Tippee (the milk spewed out of the straws)
Don't be mistaken...there are two types of Tommee Tippee straw cups.  The one pictured above and the then there's one with thicker straws that have that special valve to keep the milk down.  The only negative things about our final selection was that the straws do come off inside when thrown hard and they're not insulated.  So we just keep milk in these ones and keep them refrigerated until meal time and we keep water in the insulated Playtex ones for when we're out and about or in between meals.  So the winner is:
By Tommee Tippee (I could only find these at Babies R Us)
So I guess there is no PERFECT sippy cup out there...hmmm, business opportunity anyone?
