Bonus Baby!

As a lot of you know, Joe and I endured a lot before being blessed with Gavin, Ava and Brayden.  For a year and a half we tried to conceive with no luck until we finally found an amazing fertility specialist in Charlottesville, VA.  After an array of testing I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility meaning there's no known reason as to why my body does not produce and release large enough eggs to fertilize.  After four rounds of Clomid including IUI on the fourth round we still had no success. So we made the decision to do  FSH injections with another round of IUI.  That was the golden ticket for us...TIMES THREE!  I coasted through my pregnancy until the 30 week mark in which I began showing signs of Preeclampsia.  You can read about the complications and the HELLP Syndrome after I had the babies HERE.  Though there is a chance of HELLP Syndrome returning in pregnancies after you've had it once, the doctors felt that the only reason I contracted it was because I was carrying multiples.  So they gave us the clear to think about another baby in the future.

After much conversation between Joe and I we decided that when that time came "if" we wanted to have one more baby we WOULD NOT go through fertility again and would just try and see what happened.  If we were blessed with one more than great, but if not then we were very happy with our trio!  We did not, however, have high hopes of getting pregnant without fertility treatments so we in a way put it in the back of our minds.  We decided to start trying in September and...

SURPRISE!! Look closely...yup, you're seeing it...we're having a bonus baby "D"...due September 1, 2012!!!  The doctors said that the last pregnancy must have reset my cycle and so it took us by surprise that we were pregnant three months later!  If only it had been this easy the first time...well then we wouldn't have our three beautiful babies now!  God has truly blessed us!  So I'm going into my second trimester and the doctors like everything they see so far!  I've been referred back to the doctors at Westchester rather than the Army Hospital because of all the complications so I know that I'm in good hands with doctors that know my history.  That being said I now introduce to you the baby that will make our family an even number of 8 (including dogs)...Baby Luchetta "D" aka "Bonus Baby"!

Thanks for everyone that has supported us and continue to support us through our crazy life! Now to make it even crazier!

  1. congrats! So very happy for you!

I had preeclampsia (severe) with my first daughter had her at 28 weeks and sadly she only survived 35 days. I did go on to have my rainbow baby Sadie who is 17 months old today. I did however get preeclampsia again but later on in pregnancy. So please watch yourself and pay close attention. It can happen in any pregnancy and not just due to mutiples.

I am praying for a very happy and healthy pregnancy! CONGRATS again!

  5. OH MY GOD! God is great isn't he! If anybody could handle triplets, a fourth and TWO dogs, it's you two! I wish I somehow won the lottery so I didn't have to work and could be a professional baby holder and just float around to my friend's and help with the kids. You're in NYC now right? I'd dying to get up there and do a photoshoot with your clan!

  6. Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Tara, we are at West Point which is about an hour north of the city so if you are ever in this area we would love to have you do some pictures for us. We'll be leaving next summer and hopefully we'll be sent back down south so hopefully we can definitely get together then!
