My friend/neighbor, Carrie, who also has triplets recommended that we check out the Poughkeepsie Children's Museum which is about an hour away from us. As most of you know, I'm a southern girl and do not do well with cold weather. The main reason is because it's so hard to find activities indoors for three 19-month olds when it's in the 30's outside! Joe had off of work today for the holiday so we decided to load the trio up in the car and head out to the museum.
When we got there we noticed a lot of cars so we were a bit nervous about there being a ton of kids running around this place while we try to keep track of ours. Normally the museum is closed on Mondays but because of the holiday and the kids being off school it was open and they were having a special event with Firefighters, face painting, service dogs, etc. Immediately, Gavin and Brayden went to the Firetruck. They were loving it until Gavin found the buttons and a loud siren started coming from the truck. Gavin thought it was great but Brayden couldn't get out of there fast enough!

Next, they had an area with a house, mini merry-go-round, tree house and puzzles that was perfect for their age!

They had service dogs there that were so sweet and of course our kids walked right up to them!
Onto the next area...a cake decorating section! What a great idea...they had plastic round "cakes" with velcro on them and the kids could add foam squares with velcro to decorate them

We moved onto the construction area where there was someone that showed them how to use tools. Ava stuck with the painting while the boys got their hands "dirty".

Last but not least we went upstairs to find a sandbox with "dinosaur fossils" and a slide!
Shortly after this last area of the museum we found ourselves only counting two of our children! GAVIN HAD VANISHED! I always heard these stories of parents "losing" their kids but didn't think it would happen to us because Joe and I normally have such great communication with keeping track of who has who. There were so many kids that he got mixed up in the crowd and slipped out from both of us DOWN THE STAIRS! That's right, he crawled down two flights of stairs to the bottom floor of the museum and was socializing with the ladies at the front desk! Joe and I were frantically looking upstairs along with all of the other understanding parents and Joe finally found him at the bottom of the steps. This was our cue to leave!
We will definitely go back to the museum but probably on a less crowded day!!
