Why Do I Do This To My Body!?

This was my second year running the Army Ten Miler in D.C. and both times after finishing I've asked myself why I put my body through that.  I don't really enjoy running that far but I do it to give myself something to work towards and a sense of accomplishment.  It's always a fun weekend though in D.C. with my parents and the Overbeys.  The first year I ran it was in 2009 and then in 2010 we went as spectators since there wasn't much time between May and October to prepare my body after having the babies.  So running it this year really gave me a goal when trying to lose that "baby fat"!  My parents were kind enough to get us a hotel suite that accommodated three pack 'n plays with some leftover space to play with toys.  Ava enjoyed playing with the dogs leashes and got upset if you attempted to take the collar off of her!  Brayden had a blast riding the bike with Papi that was in our room!

We found a little park for the dogs and babies to run around in and release some built up energy too!

During our walk to the park we "ran into" a family of deer that were not shy at all!

We've made it a tradition to visit my uncle Stevan's, whom passed away in a tragic plane crash 10 years ago, memorial while in Arlington every year and take pictures with the babies...

Last but not least, the reason for being in D.C. for the weekend...to exhaust all of my energy into the 10 Miler!!

It was a beautiful weekend with incredible weather and great company!!! We'll see if I can do it another year!

  1. Congrats on your run! Running is my sanity and I'm currently nursing a few injuries right now so it's been a while since I've broken a good sweat and I'm really missing it!
